Another hot week! The children have been brilliant when talking about sun safety once again. We enjoyed our final forest school session with Hannah & Becky this week where we made banana boats and toasted s'mores.

Australia: phase 4 longer words & recap of compound words

Maths -
We have explored weight and capacity this week, using scales to weigh different items from around the classroom, as well as Numicon to add numbers together. Lots of brilliant mathematical language was used to describe our observations, including heavier than, lighter than, too much, too little, not enough, a lot more.
Activities for home:
- Set up a 'balancing station' with interesting things from around the home to weigh and balance - make predictions first
- Use see-saw problems relating to weight: 'what can we do to make this side of the see-saw go down?'
Topic -
We have enjoyed drawing pictures for our new year 1 teachers in PSHE this week, which went up to year 1 during our transition morning. Our word of the week 'resilience' has been linked to PSHE this week, where we spoke about the times during Reception where the children have shown resilience. We had lovely, reflective discussions about our wonderful year in Reception and spoke about what we're looking forward to in year 1.
