12th June 2026
Announcements: Year 2 will be attending Wilshere-Dacre on Monday 15th June to participate in the Year 6 Enterprise Day event. We know the children will have a wonderful time joining in with all of the exciting activities planned.
A reminder that Class Photos will take place on 16th June, so please ensure children come to school in full uniform and ready with their biggest smiles!
In RE, we have been learning about what is important to us. We discussed the things we value the most, such as our families, friends and health, and thought carefully about the things we feel are less important. We then explored what is important to Christians and discussed why these things matter. The children shared some fantastic ideas, explaining how God, the Bible and helping others are important parts of Christian life.
In Maths, we have started our exciting new unit on Statistics. This week, we collected lots of class data, including how many siblings we have, our favourite ice cream flavours and the sports we enjoy playing. The children learnt how to carefully use rulers and the squares in their books to create tally charts and block diagrams to present their findings clearly.
In Phonics, we have been identifying vowels and learning about spelling rules, including when to drop the ‘e’ before adding the suffixes -ed and -ing. The children are becoming increasingly confident when applying these rules in their writing. We are also getting really good at using our common exception word mats to check spellings independently and improve the accuracy of our work.
Looking ahead to next week, the children will be completing a variety of spelling, English and Maths challenges which will help us celebrate and showcase just how much they have learnt so far this year. This will be a very low-pressure experience, and the children will be supported throughout by lots of familiar adults who will be there to help guide them through the questions and encourage them to do their very best.
We are looking forward to another exciting week ahead.
Have a lovely weekend!
