Weekly News,  Autumn B,  Week Commencing: 16th December

We cannot believe that we have reached the end of the Autumn term; the time has truly flown! We are so proud of all of the children and the fabulous progress they have made. Your are all superstars and we cannot wait to see what next term has in store!

Announcements: We would like to wish all of our children and their families a wonderful Winter break and a very merry Christmas to those who celebrate. We have a small Christmas gift for the children from all of the Year 2 team, which includes a little bag of reindeer food. Our reindeer food recipe is Eco-, wildlife- and pet-friendly and prepared in Mrs Allan’s nut-free kitchen. An ingredient list can be found inside the little envelope that the children come home with today too. We hope that the children have a wonderful time with loved ones and friends and wish you all a wonderful break filled with happy memories.

English: This week in English we completed our unit focused on letter writing, by writing a letter to someone we admire. It was lovely to hear from the children the people that they look up to and to read the wonderful letters that they produced too. Well done Year 2!

Maths: We have had lots of fun in Maths this week, exploring the properties of 3D shapes with a little bit of festive flair! We have been exploring how many faces, vertices and edges 3D shapes have and tried to identify the shapes from our “melted snowmen” (nets)!

Final announcement: In the new year, as part of our Geography topic, we are hoping to take a walk in our local area and would be very grateful to any parent helpers who may be able to accompany us on the trip. Details and dates to follow in the New Year, but if you would be willing to support us as a parent helper in January, please do let us know. We would be very grateful.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Winter break!

With love from,

Mrs Allan and Miss Desmarais
