This week we have been learning Christmas songs. We sang them and used instruments to tap along with the beat of the song. We also went to watch the year ones nativity.

We have practised our scissor skills and cut out snowflakes and Christmas tree shapes. When we hold our scissors we make sure that our thumb is pointing to the ceiling.

In maths we talked about positional language. We learnt on, under, in front, behind and in. We used actions to represent each position. We hid a snowman in different places then talked about where is was e.g. The snowman is in the box.

Our rhyme of the week was Hey diddle, diddle. We talked about alliteration and listened to the sounds at the beginning of words to found the odd one out.

Our sound of the week was “m.” When we made the m sound we made sure that it sounded like mmm when you eat something tasty. We blended the sounds in the words man, moon and map.

Next week we will be learning about Christmas through stories and a variety of crafts.
