This week we shared the story of The Girl, the Bear and the Magic Shoes. We talked about the sounds that the girl made on her journey and made the different noises – crunch, squelch, whizz, splash.
In our pen disco we have been drawing crosses x x x we used the diagonal lines we have learned previously to make a cross. We practiced our crosses on paper and in sand.
In maths this week we talked about length. We used words to compare the length of sticks. We found short, long , longer, shorter and the longest and shortest. We also used this language to compare the height of the children in the class.
In our creative development lessons we explored body percussion. We tapped our hands on different body parts using different patterns to create rhythms e.g. stomp your feet, tap your knees.
Our nursery rhyme this week was the grand old Duke of York. We talked about the words that rhymed and listened to sounds the were linked to the rhyme e.g. marching feet.
Our sound of the week is i. We heard the i sound at the beginning of iguana, igloo and insect.
Next week we will be continuing to share the story of the Girl, the Bear and the Magic shoes.
