We have been exploring Poetry this week. We performed a range of poems and discussed what we liked about them. We then collected Autumn items and used them to write a class autumnal list poem. We then wrote poems about Things I Have Been Doing Lately.
Maths
We have now finished our unit on Place Value and are moving to Addition and Subtraction. We looked at number bonds to 10 and Fact families- exploring addition and subtraction bonds within 20.
Topic
The school has been celebrating Black History Month. We began the week with a lovely assembly, and then each class learnt about a different significant Black figure of History. North America found out about John Edmonstone and South America researched Learie Constantine.
In History we used a Diamond of significance to rank the activists we have learnt about, and how significant we thought they were. This led to some very interesting conversations!
In Science we observed changes over time and discussed why hygiene is important. We carried out an experiment where we observed changes over time by growing mould on bread.
In Art we have explored the work of Janet Skates and practised our mark making.
