Year 2 Blog – Week 3- Friday 25th September
Year 2 have continued to be absolutely brilliant! The children are really getting into the swing of things and it is showing in the wonderful behaviour that we are seeing.
Announcements
Forest School: Tuesday- Most children have wellies and waterproofs. Thank you! Spare socks are good to have as we do not have many in school.
PE Day: Thursday- Children can come to school in their PE kit on this day.
Library Day: Wednesday- Please bring back old books on this day so we can issue new ones.
Friday: Please ensure children have returned their phonics books.
English
In English, we have finished writing our own stories where Rat comes to the rescue, and have moved on to instructions. We are reading How to Make Friends with a Ghost, ready for spooky season! The children wrote their own ghost profile and have been having a go at being bossy.
Maths
In Maths, we have looked at number lines. Children had a go at placing numbers in the correct place, and visited the playground to complete their own chalk number lines. We have been looking at ‘estimating’- discussing that it means we need to have a guess.
Topic
In History we learnt about Rosa Parks and The Montgomery Bus Boycott, and compared them to other activists that we have discussed so far this term, including Martin Luther King Jr and Emmeline Pankhurst.
In Science we continued to observe our caterpillars, and they are now in their chrysalis. We also took part in a simple test to explore the effects of exercise on our bodies.
In Art, we have been looking at Abstract art, revisiting mixing white and black to develop our tinting skills.
