Weekly News, Summer A, Week 6

             22nd May 2026

Announcements: As Mrs Allan leaves for pastures new this week, she would like to say a huge thank you to all of the children and parents who have made Strathmore such a special place to be. It has been such a privilege to teach your wonderful children this year, and she wishes you all - South and North America - every happiness as you take a big step into Year 3 later this year. She knows that you will fly. You are all absolute superstars who have left a very special imprint on her heart. Thank you for the wonderful memories. Keep singing, smiling, painting, reading, calculating, dancing the macarena and blasting out songs from Hercules - you are all, and always will be, heroes!

Mrs Sumal is so looking forward to taking South America class every day after half term and both she and Miss Desmarais have lots of fun and exciting plans ahead for everyone's final half term at Strathmore. It is going to be fantastic!

English: This week, the children have been composing their very own sets of instructions based on our class text How to Wash a Wooly Mammoth. We have had lots of fun exploring the features of instructional writing and being creative with our ideas about How to Wash a.... hedgehog.... crocodile.... pink flamingo! We have been so impressed with your writing, Year 2. Very well done!

Maths: This week Year 2 have continued their fabulous fraction work and have shown that they really know their stuff! We can identify fractions, calculate a fraction of a number and have loved giving some tricky problem solving a go too. Well done, Year 2. "Bless my soul, you are on a roll!"

Wishing everyone a wonderful half term holiday, wherever you may be, spending precious time together. Mrs Sumal and Miss Desmarais are so looking forward to welcoming you back to school in Summer B!
