Weekly News, Summer A, Week 3
1st May 2026
Announcements: Well, time really is flying by! We cannot believe that it is May already. The children in South America had a wonderful visit to Wilshere Dacre this week in the glorious sunshine too. The children walked beautifully to their new school and had a wonderful time exploring and playing with some of the teachers there (and spotting some familiar faces too). North America will have their own little visit soon too. Well done everyone! A little reminder that Monday is a Bank Holiday and that Sports Day is next week. Please have a little look at the Monday memo for more details of the day.
English: This week, the children have been working hard to construct their own stories, inspired by our class text The Lost Homework. The children have been writing in the past tense, considering their feelings throughout their story and sharing their work with others to give lovely and constructive feedback. Well done, Year 2!
Maths: We have been continuing to explore mass this week with some really tricky problem solving questions, using our knowledge of multiplication, division, addition and subtraction to calculate the mass of different objects on a balanced scale! Wowza! We are so impressed by your mathematical thinking and resilience, Year 2, you are on a roll!
Wishing everyone a wonderful long weekend!
