Weekly News, Summer A, Week 1
17th April 2026
Announcements: Welcome back, Year 2! We have so loved seeing you all again this week and hearing about the wonderful adventures that you have had over Easter. We have been straight back to it, with lots of fabulous learning about how to show that we care, the art of printing and exploring Brazil too. This week we have also welcomed Mrs King to South America. The children have been so kind and welcoming and Mrs King has enjoyed getting to know all of the children and their routines. We so hope that everyone has a wonderful time at the school disco this week too, we know you've all "got the moves", have a fabulous night!
English: This week, the children have been using their knowledge of similes to perfect and perform some beautiful poetry that they have composed about someone that they love. We have heard some fabulous descriptions about Mummy and some friends too, and couldn't be more proud of the progress the children continue to make in their learning. Well done, Year 2! Guided reading and spelling have started back up as normal too, so for those children who bring reading books home each week should find a new copy in their bags.
Maths: This week we have been continuing to explore units of measure - specifically using a ruler and our knowledge of multiplication and division to solve problems about length. The children know that their answer often needs a number and a word to fully solve the problem, and it has been great to see everyone's confidence grow in this area. Well done, Year 2. You are all maths heroes.
As the sun continues to shine, please do send children to school with hats and sunscreen on hot/warm days. Raincoats and welly boots are also still very much appropriate too, we are still in England after all!
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!
Mrs Allan, Miss Sumal and Miss Desmarais
