English
This week we put together our own mud pie recipe. We thought about the different objects we would put in our mud pie. These included- long sticks, ripped leaves, round stones and green grass. We discussed how we would mix the soil, sprinkle stones and pour the water to make the mud pie.
Maths
In Maths, we learnt about the subtraction sign and used the vocabulary- less than, minus and subtract. We then wrote number sentences using part whole models. We also tried to find the missing part by subtracting from the whole number.
Phonics
This week, we learnt new phase 5 sounds for o (oa), i (igh), a (ai), e (ee). We learnt that the tricky words Mr, Mrs, Ms are all abbreviations for longer words.
Topic
In Science, we went outside to feel the wind on our face. We talked about if we could feel a gentle breeze or if we could feel the wind pushing on our hair and clothes. We collected wind data and represented the findings on a bar chart. We also enjoyed Michael Rosen day on Thursday where we heard lots of different poems including our favourite ‘Chocolate Cake’!
