Welcome back to Nursery!
We hope you all had a lovely half term break. The children have settled back into Nursery so well this week. It was great to see so many smiles as they came in, in the morning.
This week, we have had a wonderful start to the new half term with our Bonfire Night theme The children enjoyed listening to stories about fireworks and sharing their own experiences, talking about how to keep themselves safe.
Through creative activities, we explored colour and sound, making beautiful firework art using paint flicking and sequins, and creating exciting noises to match the bangs and whizzes of fireworks.
In our Pen Disco, we practised drawing crosses using big and small movements to strengthen our writing muscles. The children also had fun making breadstick sparklers and mark making in wet sand.
This half term, we are continuing with the Little Wandle Foundations phonics programme, focusing on deepening children’s awareness of sounds in words through fun, engaging activities. The children have been enjoying songs, rhymes, and games like Bertha the Bus, that help them hear, say, and identify different sounds, preparing them for blending and segmenting. Our Nursery rhyme of the week is Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.
Don't forget that all children should have wellies that can be left at school and a warm, waterproof coat preferably with a hood every day. The children have been working hard and putting on their coats by themselves and some have mastered zips. Please continue to practise this at home too.
