A wonderful first full week in Reception! The children are all embracing Strathmore life, learning new names and becoming more familiar with routines.

Phonics -
We have started our phonics journey this week, learning sounds s, a, t, p. We have played ‘What’s in the box?’ To support our understanding of initial sounds, where the pictures match our new sound. The children have also been brilliant at writing these new graphemes on their whiteboards.
Maths -
We have practiced counting to 10, 15, then 20 by singing songs and counting as a class. We have also looked at numerals 1-5 and looked for shapes in our environment.
Topic -
Our topic this term is ‘All about me’. We have read ‘A Handful of Buttons’ and drawn family portraits – lots of beautiful family pictures are now on display in our corridor!
