Weekly News, Summer A, Week 4

              8th May 2026

Announcements: Ready, set, go!!! The children had a wonderful time at our Sports morning this week and did a fantastic job of taking part in all of the activities. Many thanks to everyone able to come along to support on the day, we hope that you had just as much fun as the children did. Although it can always be a little tricky to say goodbye to mums and dads at the end of a lovely morning together, the children were over the moon with their ice lollies which, undeniably, went down a treat! Well done, Year 2. We are really proud of you all.

English: This week, the children have been perfecting their final writing pieces based on our class text, The Lost Homework. The children have reviewed and edited their work, shared feedback with their peers and written beautiful final drafts and illustrations of their own stories. The children are continuing to make super progress with their phonics, spelling and guided reading - including tackling some tricky unseen reading comprehension questions this week too. Well done.

Maths: This week we have been exploring measuring temperature using a thermometer and investigating all the different mathematical concepts involved when reading the weather! Although our focus has been to accurately read a thermometer, the children have had lots of super questions about the way that weather is reported - including 24 hour time, noticing trends in the rise and fall of temperature throughout the day and even the % chance of rain too! You are super stars.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!
