Weekly News, Spring B, Week 3

                         13th March 2026

Announcements: Well, what a lovely week we have had in Year 2! We are so proud of our children involved in the Rock Steady concert this week. It is not easy to stand up in front of a large audience to play and perform but you all gave your very best and we are incredibly proud of you. Well done, Year 2! In South America, we did not exchange library books this week due to so many children attending the concert. Please know that we will swap these next week instead on the usual day. There may be a special "secret" creation hiding in book bags for a certain special person in our families this weekend... Have a lovely Mothers' Day to all who celebrate.

English: This week, we have started to plan our own narratives inspired by our class text Julian is a Mermaid. The story takes a the child's love of mermaids, and his wonderful sense of imagination, to create a beautifully illustrated tale whereby Julian celebrates being a mermaid at a carnival. The children have started to consider their own passions in life to create their own stories which will explore how their love of something inspires there imagination and takes them on a wonderful journey. We are so impressed by the ideas we have seen so far, Year 2. Keep up the wonderful work!

Maths: This week we have been continuing to look at multiplication and division - looking at the 2, 5 and 10 times tables. We have been using practical materials to build equal groups, arrays and to count using repeated addition - selecting the right resources for the job. We have been blown away by how wonderfully well the children are developing their knowledge and skills, even applying some of what we know to solve unfamiliar problems too. Well done everyone!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend,

Mrs Allan, Miss Sumal and Miss Desmarais
