Weekly News, Spring A, 23rd January 2026

Announcements: Thank you very much for supporting us in our trip to Oughtonhead this week. The children had a wonderful time and we are very grateful to all parents who were able to come along and join us. We are delighted to see you this afternoon at our Learning Fair, where the children can share some of their work with you too. Please don’t hesitate to pop up and say hello to us in the classroom.

English: This week in English we have been continuing with our unit on fairytales, exploring the story of Rapunzel by Bethan Woolvin. We have been using the story as inspiration to create our own fairytales this week – considering who our audience might be and how we might like them to feel and writing our stories in the past tense with clear structure and interesting vocabulary. Well done, Year 2! We have continued working on our Bridge to Spelling unit and have been so impressed by the children’s ability to use their phonetic knowledge to identify spelling rules that can help us as we write.

Maths: This week we have continued our learning about money, using notes and coins to build different amounts. We have been exploring the different combinations of coins and notes that we can use to make amounts of the same value, in different ways. Why don’t you give it a go at home?

Wishing you a wonderful weekend,

Mrs Allan, Miss Sumal and Miss Desmarais
