Our first half term in Reception is complete! A huge well done to all the children, they have truly embraced life at Strathmore, we are incredibly proud of them.

After half term, Reception will be joining the rest of the school on the main playground for lunch time twice a week - Monday and Wednesday. We visited the playground this afternoon as a year group which was very exciting!

Phonics (recap) -

Graphemes - t, i, n, d, g.

Tricky words - I, is, the.

Maths -

The focus this week has been comparison. The children have been encouraged to look carefully and use the language of comparison to describe sets of objects that they can see. Language has been a key focus where we have used 'more than' and 'fewer than' to describe how many objects are in each sets we have looked at. 'Fewer than' is used rather than 'less than' because the focus is on countable things.

Topic -

Our final week of 'What Makes Me, Me?' Has encouraged us to think about our favourite things! After reading You Choose, the children were given a piece of paper and pencils and were encouraged to fill their box with all of their favourite things, such as hobbies, places and food - lots of wonderful discussions were had!

Upcoming date for next term -

21st November - Reception trip to the cinema (Stevenage Cineworld) to watch Tabby McTat and The Smeds and The Smoos.

Have a lovely half term!
